The junior high school program develops the skills and knowledge students need for high school through a system of departmentalized classes and specialized teachers. HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT – Students can earn a high school credit in Algebra by completing the 8th grade algebra program at St. Mary’s. ELECTIVES – Students have the opportunity to explore new areas and develop their talents by participating in these classes: SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES – Students are given the opportunity to provide service to their school, their community, and to the larger global community. Projects include services such as visiting nursing homes, collecting food and clothing for the local needy, and collecting funds for the Holy Childhood Association, the Children’s Relief Fund, the American Heart Association, and the Gabriel Project. LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – Students are given the opportunity to participate in the student council. The student council is affiliated with the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC), and participates in district and state conferences. The student council organizes student activities on campus and provides safety awareness training for younger students. |
